Banded 3-20-06

Recommended Posts

Hi Everybody- I have been doing OK. I have had alot of left shoulder pain which has taken my spirit down a bit. It hurts so bad I can hardly stand it! I have lost 12 lbs in the first 7 days but nothing the last 2 days...just maintaing the 12. I am surprised by how much I think I am feeling my band. It is a stinging feeling especially when I walk to fast. The rest of the time it just feels like a heavy feeling...like someone is pushing on my belly. I am still swollen and healing so maybe that has alot to do with it. Or will I always have that feeling? After I heal will I feel normal again? I certainly hope so!

Welcome to Bandlandia....!

You are still healing, the first 6 weeks are to heal not to lose weight, any weight lost at this time is great, but not to be expected.

I am 11 months post op and I thought in the beginning, What have I done???? I felt uncomfortable, thought I could feel the band, thought I would always feel the band. Now I dont even know it is there and I am 100% no... make that 150% glad I had it done and would do it over again in a heartbeat.

You too will feel "normal" again, just give it time, you are only a week post op. You're doing great. Some of what u may be experiencing is the Gas they put in you during surgery, that has to work its way out of your body and can be a heavy bloated feeling.

Thanks Alexra! You sure look great! Losing so much in only 11 months is such a motivation for me. I appreciate your kind words...I am looking forward to the next few weeks being over and feeling 150% like you )

My shoulder pain seems to be going away (crossing my fingers) that it stays that way! I am just puzzled as to why I haven't been losing weight the last 3 days. I guess I thought I'd lose the whole time I was on just liquids. Oh well, I would rather feel myself agian first. The weight loss just made me feel like I was suffering for something (ha).

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
