well, im an official bandster! im a little sore and have alot of gas to get rid of. tried to sleep in bed last night and ended up in the recliner. will probably sleep there tonight too. was surprised when they weighed me the morning after surgery and i had gained 8lbs! they said that was due to all the liquides they pumped me with and i should lose that right away(hopefully). trying to get up and walk every 2 hours(not exactly my favorite thing right now) not really hungry, just thirsty and taking my pain meds faithfully! lol! anyway, here i am, another official bandster!:clap2:

Congratulations!!!!!! Soon the gas and pain will be nothing more than a memory. Make sure you get plenty of rest and give your body time to heal. I hope to join you April 17th.

Yeah!!! I'm 12 days ahead of you...just got back from grocery shopping. I had to sleep in the recliner 3 nights and now do just fine. Was off pain meds completely after about 4 days. Went to work after 5 days. That was a little rough.

Good luck!! You'll feel much better in no time. Sip Sip Sip Walk Walk Walk

Walking really will make you feel better.

Congratulations on your surgery! It's hard seeing that Fluid gain, but I had a revision surgery on Tuesday and I've lost 10 lbs in the last two days. It comes off quickly.

Wishing you a speedy recovery! :)

Welcome to bandland!!! I became a bandster on the 21st, and although I've had virtually no pain...... I still can't get comfortable at night.

I go back and forth from the recliner to the bed(LOL....at least I am getting some more walking done in the middle of the night!!!!)

Welcome to Bandland!! So happy to hear everything went well and that you are doing ok. I gained 7 pounds right after surgery! I remember telling folks that I looked in the mirror and proclaimed with disgust, 'I paid $26,000 for THIS??!!' *laughs*

Don't expect too much for a couple of weeks, but then... hang on! :)

i gained a substantial amount of weight on surgery day also!! I am pretty sure it is normal! It was gone by the weekend, 4 days later.

Good luck, congrats, and remember the rules!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
