Calling All Ladies!

Hey ladies, I am brand spanking new to this, 25 years old, and scheduled to undergo Lapband surgery early in October. I was wondering if any ladies have conceived after getting lapband surgery, and what your experience was like. I'm not yet married, but would like to plan ahead for the future. Thanks!

Hello,

I had my surgery on August 20, 2012 I am down 22 lbs. It was the best thing I have ever decided to do. It is life changing, but for the good in my eyes. I am a wife and a mother of two. You will feel better about yourself once you start to lose some weight. Good luck to you and keep me posted.

I am way to old to have more babies, but most doctors will tell you that losing weight helps with fertility and in fact to be more careful (contraceptive wise) as you lose large amounts of weight. You will find several folks in your age bracket under the group, pregnancy after lap band.

Good luck to you!

I am past the point of having babies also. I have two daughters. I had a hard time getting pregnant with my second child because of my weight. Or at least I think that was the problem. Good luck.

I am planning on trying for another baby in the spring or so. I have a 2 year old now, and it was a hard pregnancy at over 250lbs. I have spoken with my surgeon and my PCP and they both think the next one will be way easier on me!

Banded 4/17/12, on my way to the real me!

my understanding is that they do a complete or partial unfill when you get pregnant much of the time - then after you have the baby they can re-fill. I am not trying for a second baby (i turn 39 in a few weeks) but if there's an "oops" I am comfortable that there will be no problems band-wise. I believe there are multiple threads/topics on here about pregnancy and the band so be sure to read all those for more info! BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!!!!!! :)
