Had banding on 1/11/06

Recommended Posts

Hi

I had banding on 1/11/06 at Roger Williams Hospital by Dr. Pohl. Went in at 213 and today 3/22/06 am 176. I am finding that I am able to eat more than I thought and have not lost a pound in two weeks!!!

I just had my 1st fill and found no difference at all! I am a little depressed about it and have started a weekly dance class and a short walking program when I can fit it in with my working.

Has anyone had this problem?

Hi Carol,

It is not at all unusual for people to feel like the first fill doesn't make any difference. But you may also find that it "kicks in" a couple of weeks after the fact, so don't leap to any conclusions just yet. My theory is that the stomach walls thin out in reaction to the increased pressure, and over time they return to their original state which is what creates restriction. That's just a theory, but it seems to fit the phenomenon that so many people report.

Give it at least another four weeks and then decide if you have restriction. That'll be plenty of time to seek another adjustment. Take it slow, you don't want the restriction to surprise you!

Carla - I'm a pre-bander and don't know much about fills and when they "kick in", bit I did want to tell you how happy I am for you for your weight-loss... 36 lbs in a couple of months is awesome!!! You shouldn't get discouraged at all! Have fun with the dance class and walking and Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
