I am experiencing pain around my port and major bloatness it's so uncomfortable. No redness, swelling or fever. I can't see my Dr. Until Sept 12th but Nurse said sometimes it gets inflamed and they will have to do a port revision or it's just the muscles soreness since I have lots weigh. Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks, the pain isn't that bad just bloating is uncomfortable but I was reading on here that drinking sodas with a straw causes bloatness and I am guilty I had been drinking sodas lately not all of it but some and it also causes gases and thats me and eating unhealthly and thats me again. I have been doing so good and I guess I thoguht I could slack off :(

Thank you'll. The bloatness is gone but still a littlepain around the port area. I will be seeing my Doctor soon so I pray nothing is wrong. Laker24 my port is tilted but thank goodness band hasn't slipped. I had surgery to fix theport and again it tilted (makes me wonder if it really got fixed) but Dr. is still able to give me fills when needed but not as easy as if it was in place. Glad band is back to normal and you have reached your goal. Take care!

You suck in a lot of air when you drink from a straw so a straw and soda is a double whammy! My doctor was really specific about no straws and I gave up soda a long time ago...

Good luck.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
