Imagine Carrying 10 Bowling Balls, All The Time.....

Recommended Posts

I'm so happy and grateful that one week from today I will start a journey to health.....

I went bowling recently with my kids, and I use the wimpy 8-pound balls ;) . Still, it was amazing to think that no matter what I am doing, no matter where I am, I am carrying around approximately 10 of those puppies in unnecessary weight!

Although I certainly want to LOOK better, it's not just about that. I want to get rid of the sleep apnea and the snoring, that feeling of constriction in my throat and around my heart and lungs. The weird back and hip pains, the stiffness in my knees and shoulders.

I want to be healthy!

Here's to the future!!! :)

My dad loved blue herons, had an Audubon print of one. On the day of his funeral, one flew overhead (February, New York, not a common occurrence!) Since then, I just always relate blue herons to fortuitous circumstances. If I see one, something exciting is usually about to happen!

I know that feeling! Just get to the point where things you used to do are impossible! Haven't had my surgery yet, but things I'm looking forward to someday. . . Working in the yard, doing housework, grocery shopping without my back hurting so much I have to stop every 10 minutes. Playing at the park with the kids, going roller skating, or traversing an amusement park without running out of breath & steam, so that everyone has to go on without me! Yay, I'm so excited. I hope you are successful and get the results you want also. Having my last appt. with doc pre-surgery next week! Then I start the lovely Liquid Protein diet! Oh boy!!!! :) haha. But it's going to be worth it, I know. Will keep you posted, you do the same! Good luck.

I was in a meeting recently... With 15 of my co workers I hadn't seen in some time. Of course they noticed my loss and they put it perspective when one of the guys said... Gee you have lost more than any one of us here weighs!!! Talk about a reality check!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
