Surgery Set For 9/4...im Getting Nervous!

Recommended Posts

I'm home relaxing today and I'm super nervous just thinking about my surgery happening in 2 weeks. My mind is going 100 miles per hour and I keep thinking am I making a good decision? I've tried so hard to lose weight and because of my Thyroid it a never ending battle! I was not even this nervous when I had my Thyroid removed. :(

I am set for surgery on 9/4 as well!!! Have you started your pre-op diet yet? I'm sorry you are feeling nervous, I will probably be at some point. Right now I am just EXCITED. Being excited just sounds weird when you're talking about surgery?!

Feeling nervous is totally normal, especially with something like lap band that requires a serious life style change. I am only about a week post op, but once the surgery was done I felt a little silly for feeling as nervous as I did prior to my operation lol! The surgery it self is a breeze (assuming you have a good doctor and good nurses) and even recovery isn't terribly bad, though everyone is different. But I'd say that if you don't have any adverse reactions to the anesthesia (nausea...) and plenty of pain meds, than there's not much else to worry about. ;) good luck with your surgery! Feels good to be on the other side :)

Thanks Erin that does make me feel a whole lot better. I did not have naseau from my Thyroid or Gallbladder surgery, so hope fully I'm good on that part :). As for Wisdom- I start my pre-op this Tues.-yikes.... Not looking forward to that!

Nerves is definitely normal. We've all been there. This was probably the easiest surgery I ever had. I was walking the hall of the hospital wing two hours after coming out of recovery (with a very lovely Nurse). You ladies will rock this thing and see that it is not so bad.

Good Luck!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
