Got Approved Today! Time To Quit Talking And Do It!

Got my approval from my insurance company today and I am going to be banded September 7th! I am a little nervous about starting the preop diet. I have a foster home and have 12 kids to care for and am worried about being too weak or grumpy for them. Any suggestions on how to prepare mentally for it?

THanks!

Congrats on your approval and best of luck!!!!!

For your pre-op diet are you only allowed liquids or can you do a no-carb diet?

Congratulations!

I would start trying protein drinks now so you can find one you like before you start the pre-op diet. Loading up on protein will really help ease hunger and keep you from getting weak. Also, I'd take a multivitamin too.

Best wishes to you!!

Congratulations on your approval!

Yay! Congrats! :)

Hi protein with only 5 g carbs....

Congrats on your approval and best of luck!!!!!

As suggested earlier, try out the protein drinks now so you can figure out which ones you like. You can even ask on here to poll the popular ones or I asked people at my support group meeting. Also, shop for the food items you will need after surgery (broth, cream soups, shakes, etc.) so you have all that on hand. If you can, you may want to have some family meals prepared in the freezer too or perhaps the older kids can assist with meal preparation. Lastly, accept help if available. Some of us are used to be independent and don't want to inconvenience others... Now it is time for you to be your priority and put yourself before others while you are recovering. Good luck and best wishes.

Congratulations on your approval!!! I'm only 4 days after you on the 11th!! Are you an hospital overnighter or do you get to go home the same day?

You should consider joining the September bandsters group. At the top of the page, go to groups, then new groups and you will find it. I can see how it's nice to keep in touch with people who are having surgery around the same time you are.

Cheers!!

I cannot stress enough how happy I was to find protein shots! Walmart! I was about to throw my shake at someone after a few days!
