I was able to do sugar free pudding and Jello on full liquids as well as yogurt with no chunks or seeds (1st two weeks post op). I was able to add the other items listed on mushies, starting week three.

thanks you all for your help. You know I had my surgery on the 25th and I am coming up on my 3rd week. I had my surgery done in mexico because I don't have insurance and even though I am very pleased with my service and surgery, some things like follow up ar not as great. Thats one of the reasons why I have found help from people like yall on this site to be so valuable! Thanks again .

I posted this yesterday for someone...........I haven't had surgery yet, but these are my guidelines from my surgeon

From what my surgeon has given me ( and everyone is different) post surgery

Day 1 - Clear Liquids only

Days 2-13 - full liquids - they should all pour out of a spoon at room temp (pudding, milk, low fat cream Soups, yogurt - no chunks), fudgesicles, smoothies - all low fat/sugar free

Days 14-21 - above plus pureed and soft, blenderized food. consistancy of baby food

Days 21-30 above, plus soft/moist diet, bananas, applesauce, canned fruit, ground meats, well cooked veggies, crackers, cooked Cereal, sugar free/low fat,

This is just brief and an outline from my surgeon keeping in mind that at most stages need to get in 70 g of Protein and recommended Water intake..........I have a mandatory nutritional councelling session prior to surgery, should find out more.

I was on liquids for 4 weeks after surgery, so I didn't add mushy stuff like mashed potatoes until the 5th week.

I was told anything that easily ran off the back of a spoon was liquid. So, I ate things like runny oatmeal and sugar free pudding while on liquids. Yogurt was allowed, too. Oddly, he did let me have cottage cheese during the liquid phase even though it's not liquid.

Mashed potatoes would be a mushie stage not liquids, so I couldn't have that until the 5th week.

I was banded on 7/27. My surgeon had me do liquids for 1 week. When I went in for my follow -up on my 7th day, he told me he wanted me to get used to my band and get to know it. He told me to experiment but stick to Protein, and avoid carbs and only zero calorie liquids. I have been doing exactly what he said. I have lost 24 pounds. I have had no bloating, nausea, gas, nothing. Every surgeon is different. I went with the one who banded a few people I know and they were very successful without any complications. They went on and on about how much individual attention they get from him. I see what they mean. I have never met a doctor who gave me their cell, pager, and personal email. He's not bad on the eyes either...lol

beware grits!!!! Even though I was about week 7 or 8 IIRC, I had a mere taste of grits mixed with a little egg and had major PB episodes over the next 300 miles...yes, we were traveling down the coast & I left a trail....

The mushy phase served me mostly very well but caution, patience and going very slowly is advised.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
