Esophagitis After Being Banded???

Recommended Posts

After being banded four weeks ago I still have pressure in. Y chest and tightness in my throat. I also had the hiatal hernia repair done. I should also mention that I developed thrush after surgery. I was getting nowhere with the PA so yesterday I demanded to see the doctor. He thinks I may have esophagitis or the her is repair may be too tight. Going tomorrow for my first fill and they would have more insight then. But. Based upon results I may have to go for an endoscopy.

Did anyone ever experience a situation like this? If so , I would spare Kate any advise suggestions and treatment pptions that are Avai

Thanks!

I had a hernia repair and band repositioning almost 4 weeks ago. My chest tightness is gone. Occasionally I still get shoulder tweaks... but no pressure.

I had an endoscopy done prior to my surgery. It was an easy procedure. Over quickly.

I hope you get some answers from your surgeon when you go for your fill appointment.

I was banded 6/26/12 and I am still having tightness in my throat, it also feels like something is stuck in my throat. I will be going for a endoscopy as well. I had a barium swallow and it was fine showed everything was going down. So they are trying to rule out this was caused by the lap band. Keep us posted and best wishes !

I have had my band for 4 years. I have not had any luck with fills. I usually swell shut. Sometimes I can't even emirate my own spit. Recently I got heartburn, with vomiting in my sleep. I had a complete unfill and am not sure I will ever use it again. I am starting to feel like I needed gastric bypass. The band is like a choke chain to me. I did almost everything correctly. I also felt I ate close to nothing and I was far away from my goal weight with no weight loss. I am now worried because I am gaining weight rapidly. I have not really been restricting to much. So I need to work on that. Anyway...just venting.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
