got stuck this morning on a scrambled egg. Wasn't as bad as the chicken but bad enough. I have 4.5cc's in my band and I guess I didn't chew it well. Just learning to chew is a new thing huh? I'm 6 wks post op. Tried the papaya pills, helped a little but still had the spitting up episode. I don't think I will eat eggs for awhile.

Some people add milk or water to 'fluff' up their scrambled eggs. I think that causes problems for bandsters. If you have eggs I'd recommend NOT adding any kind of liquid to them when you scramble them or eat them over easy or fried. However, it's always a learning experience with the band. You could just be tight one day...or that time of day...or dehydrated. I try not to cross any food completely off my list. I just try to learn when it's okay and when it's not okay to eat it or how I have to eat it whether that be really slow or lots of chewing or BOTH! Good luck.

Donna - sorry about the sticking episode. They can be rough. I never had luck with the papaya pills or hot liquid - I usually just loose what I ate, relax and wait for it to pass. Don't give up eggs forever. Somedays your band will be tighter than others( plus don't forget to chew). I too have had eggs get stuck and chicken and tuna fish and steak and green Beans - shoot - you name it, I have gotten it stuck. I actually got hot tea stuck once. I have been banded a year and I am still learning. Good luck and glad that it finally passed.

You might consider asking to have a bit of fluid removed from your band if you're that tight... You can still lose weight without being so tight you can't tolerate regular food.

Sasha has a point but first you need to determine if these stuck episodes are being caused by you or the band. I have had a couple of stuck episodes as well and when it happens it's because I either eat to fast or don't chew enough. Had that problem once with eggs and it was because I ate fast. New eating habits take time to form. At the same token the band should not prevent you from eating foods.

I went to Las Vegas and we went to get something to eat late at night...OMG...PBS bigtime...right there at the table..soooo embarrassed..but I was dehydrated and the band was tight..it is going to take a while to figure out when and how ...I am not tight it seems in the mornings as much as I am in the evenings..wonder why that is?

You might really want to take a look at your liquid intake overall. Bandsters typically live their lives in a constant state of slight dehydration. It's really important to make sure you are getting enough liquids. Most people I know are tight in the morning and loosen up as the day goes by.

I was banded in May, and have attempted eggs on so many different levels cooked so many different ways...to no avail...I just can't tolerate them for some reason...Salad?? I can eat it for every meal, every day if I wanted...so weird lol...

thanks everyone for chiming in. I think it is a combination of two things from what I've read here, dehydration and not taking the time to chew chew chew. I was in a hurry this morning and so hungry. I need to slow down, I know this and still learning. Like I said, I'm only 6 wks out so its a learning curve. I was very sick yesterday with a bout of diarrhea all day up until bedtime last night so needless to say I know I was somewhat dehydrated but didn't know that it made your band tight??? Hm, no one has told me that before, now I know. thx. Thought I'd try an egg this morning instead of Protein shake and was so hungry I guess I took a too big of bite and didn't chew and well I paid for it. I can tolerate well cooked veggies, salads, canned chicken and tuna, fish like Tilapia or Salmon, a beef/bean burrito well I say that now but since having the .5cc put in yesterday I haven't had the burrito yet. lol. Actually haven't had much of any of it yet since I was on liquids and mushies all day yesterday. We'll see. I'm struggling with bouts of nausea during the day so my surgeon didn't want to put a full cc in yesterday, he thinks it's my gallbladder, ugh. Oh well, enough rambling. Thanks again everyone.

Being stuck does not sound pleasant! I don't think I've ever truly been "stuck"...I've had about 5 minutes of horrid indigestion but it was self-inflicted (I'll just have this one last bite even though I just got my full signal). It's only happened twice, and the second one was with hummus. Hummus! Nothing chunky or anything, but it was a little thick. I was walking and snacking, not concentrating, and BAM, misery for 5 minutes.

Aint it the truth? Waiting too long and getting too hungry can make you eat too fast. Also, distractions. OMG, I get distracted so easily and before I know it I've quickly shoveled 5 bites in my piehole and I just sit and wait for the pressure near my diaphragm.

I can eat steak - never get stuck. Scrambled egg gets me EVERY TIME!

Donna, being stuck is miserable. You'll learn to work with your predictable 'stuck' foods, times of day, and behaviors . For me, unfortunately, there are still the occasional unpredictable episodes. I've never thought about or heard how dehydration could create a stuck episode, but it sure makes sense!

i agree.. there is a lot of variation from day to day when it comes to what we can eat and what we cant. Personally i do well with eggs but i dont scramble them. i fry them and have the yolk runny. i dont have any issues at all. If im scrambling eggs i just whip up one in a bowl, add a tiny amount of water and microwave. just as good and no additives.

I am lookin into my surgery and I was wondering what u guys ment. By stuck?
