  1. I have had 5 oor six fills and I can't feel restriction , In October I had a fill and they said I now had 2cc I do not feel anything again so today 11/13 I went to get another fill and they pulled out what was in my tubing and I only had 1.6cc so they suspect a leak. What will happen if this is so? Do I have to have surgery again? I am so depressed about all this.

Is Salad A Red Flag Food?

Everyone is different..some people have no problems with anything...lucky them...and then there is me..everything changes ..sometimes I can and sometimes I can't..so I have come to rely on the feel of things...if after the first two small bites I feel like it will become a stuck situation I stop...don't care what the cost of the dish or if I slaved for a while preparing..pbing or whatever is awful and I will try to avoid doing that...sometimes its hard to be a lapbander...

Is Salad A Red Flag Food?

For me it depends on my band. Sometimes its tight and I can't even get a banana down. Other times Salads are great...you will get to know your band and how it feels when you take those first two bites...as for red flags...they say anything out of a fast food window...fair food and food that have fillers like hot dogs...everything in moderation and read packages ...keep to the golden rule..protein first..vegetables, fruit then.........hope this helps...yours for less of you...
  4. It is so vast the many rules that are different in doctors offices for the same procedure. Eat bread, don't eat bread...blah blah blah...I guess it all comes down to whatever works for you. As for the green zone feeling...not sure I have achieved it as I get hungry again too soon I am sure. I feel restriction which does stop me from eating as much as I might normally...and sometimes makes me stop eating period...but I still get hungry too soon..my choices of what I eat are better but that is my own volition of choice...I wish I knew that zone for sure...thought I had it but I was wrong ..now I am not sure as my last fill was too much and some was withdrawn...I still have restriction and from time to time suffer pbing and sliming...it is disgusting...so I don't know if just a skosh more would do it for the green zone or put me over into the red zone again...it is frustrating,,I also got my lap band done in Mexico...that means the dr that does my fills here in WA state charges me...375 for the fill and if I need more I have to have it done within 10 days so he will only charge me 150 or it will go back to 375....they don't tell you about the after care in Mexico ..pay less and pay more later plan...that is a dilemna...hope you figure it out...Anita
  5. Okay, I need to ask you "street" why are you still eating subs? First, I was told not to have bread or pasta or any heavy carbs...did you get any instruction on nutrition? If not, call and find out what your diet should consist of. I can't imagine Subway being in play here. I was told to eat nothing that came out of fast food...This is a tool not a cure all...you have to eat right for it to work and it is work...but it does help a great deal from what I understand and from what I have seen. I think you need another fill but more than that you need guidance in what you should be consuming in calories and in protein...carbs are NOT GOOD...I am sorry if I sound like I am lecturing you...I am not as it sounds like no one told you what you should be putting in your body for fuel...to burn off the fat....we are all there in the same boat as you..we are all just paddling to our own tempos...this is a great place to get advice but always start with your Doctors office....hope this helped...Anita
  6. I had 3 fills since my May 16th surgery then one unfil because I was getting stuck and had that awful sliming problem...everything I ate or drank...horrible. They took out a little of the saline and I am doing better. I am not sure I am in the green zone...I do fill up fast...and I have to take small bites and chew like crazy..sometimes I am fine and sometimes the same food on a different day will get kinda stuck and so I stop and the sensation usually goes away and I am fine again...the only problem I have is the night hunger for some reason..it just kicks in and I want salty crunchy stuff..never been much for sweets. I want pasta and rice but I was told not to have it for the first 6 months at least so I don't at all. My weight has been slow to move..I just joined curves and hopefully that will help me move it a bit more...so am I in the green zone? I feel like I am right there on the edge but at night...hmmmmmmm

    Got Stuck Again

Trying to figure out this band is hard. I went to Las Vegas and we went to get something to eat late at night...OMG...PBS bigtime...right there at the table..soooo embarrassed..but I was dehydrated and the band was tight..it is going to take a while to figure out when and how ...I am not tight it seems in the mornings as much as I am in the evenings..wonder why that is? I was banded May16th and the loss has been slow but it has been coming off. Monday I join curves and this will help pick up the pace... I am afraid to eat salad and I am leary of anything you have a chew a lot...but I need to get over that...getting stuck stinks...and it is scary and horrible....
  8. I agree with 2muchfun..buy your own scale. But invest in a good one and use that as your true weight. You will weigh closer to the WLS scale or your primary DR's scale so you will know which is your true weight.
  9. Hooray...wine without guilt!! Personally, I think you know if you have an alchohol addiction..just like any other addiction..now whether you choose to do anything about it is the question and always has been..denial is one thing to others but lying to oneself...well..that has always been the question in addiction instances and that is why unless you do something STRICTLY for yourself it will never work...ridding oneself of addictions is PERSONAL as in eating..being banded is personal..you will succeed if you did it for yourself for yourself and stay the course...having a glass of wine will not throw you off kelter unless you have another and another...just like the ole potato chip....it's so easy to put blame on things when we plot our own course....know thyself is omnipotent to what you do

    Please Help?

I have a HARD time when I shop at the store as I am by myself and so I don't like to cook hardly at all for just me. I find it extremely hard to find anything to quidk fix other than tuna or chicken in a can as all things ares mixed with rice or noodles or some other pasta..I was told to not have that even in Lean Cuisine or Weight Watcher meals.....makes it harder....
  11. OMG so where in the wide world of drinking does that leave me if that is the gospel about drinking with a full gastric bypass and it passing thru quicker than with a band where its absorbed? I have both...bypass RNY now a month ago I was banded..I still have the effects of my roux n y as I am still hooked up..they just put the lap band around the pouch to make it small again as it stretched over the 12 year period...hmmmmm
  12. I too was wondering the same thing? Drinking as in swallowing or drinking as in alcohol? I had roux ny done in 2000 and was just banded this past May 16th....my pouch, after all these years stretched and so lap band was the only thing offered to help this ...I am doing well so far as I was good most of the time on my eating habits with the bypass..it was just one of those things, however, nothing in a drinking matter afflicted me...I like to have a glass of wine or maybe two but I don't see the correlation between bariatrics and alcoholism?

    Before Getting A Fill

sorry to get off track but where do you go to change the weight on the ticker for yourself?

    Before Getting A Fill

I was told nothing for atleast one hour before the fill..my first one is this Monday at noon...I am so anxious to have it...

    Lapband Failure

I am in total agreement with Mis73. I had the gastric bypass and it was sucessful for me...after 12 years it stretched out ..not by my bad eating habits just one of those things. It worked great and I did lose my weight by sticking to a healthy plan...towards the end when I knew it had stretched as my bariatric surgeon checked it and told me it was that way....I gained back weight by eating whatever and drinking too much wine ....when I got off my pity party and was ready to cope with the reality of the facts....I was told lapband surgery was the only thing they could offer me after a roux n y bypass...the lapband as any other bariatric surgery works if you work it...it is just an aid...a tool...like any other bariatric surgery..I have seen people with gastric bypasses fail because they consumed malts and fried foods etc etc...the only thing that works is YOU...these people who get on here and tell about consuming creamed soups and potatoes and gravy and not losing weight and being discouraged is ridiculous...anyway..I understand the struggle but you need to decide your approach and the new attitude before you surgically alter yourself....not to be mean...but honestly......

    Fills

I get my first fill this coming Monday the 18th..compared to everything else endured..which really wasn't all that terrible..this will be a piece of cake I figure , and something I am looking forward to so I can become less of an embodiment to get to the person who lies within me..lol....
  18. Well seems to me..you prayed and you got your answer. Don't just chew chew chew...don't eat toast...it's that simple for the toast issue for now.
  19. I would atleast call an urgent care place and describe what is obvious...they will tell you if you should wait until Monday or come in and let them take a look at it. I have a rule of thumb...better safe then sorry when it comes to yourself ALWAYS...if its nothing so be it...but if its something..good thing you checked it out....you have come a long way to just ignore this...

    Pain After Eating

I don't know what that might be. Today for the first time, I was having like a pinch pain right where I can feel the band below my ribcage on the left side of my abdominal area. What in the world is that I am thinking..all of a sudden..it is intermittent as it pinches and stops for a while then pinches...at first I thought it was like the pain I had from an ulcer twelve years ago after my original RNY WLS...hopefully this will pass...hope yours does too...

    May Bandsters!

Hi I hope all went well with your first fill. Mine will be the 18th of June. I was banded the 16th of May and I too can see the port and I can also feel the band and I hope it goes down as well. They say it depends on how big you are in the stomach area. Does that mean eventually everyone will see it as they lose weight? Just thinking out loud..lol.. I hope the fill gives you some type of restriction as that seems to be a key issue with most people getting a fill. On the cost of them...here in WA State I am paying 375.00 with fleuroscopy and if I need an adjustment on it withing 10 days..150.00 or 175.00 can't remember precisely. Guess that isn't too bad as I see it being done so much more expensively. It's only a hypo with saline..some offices don't do fleuro they just blind stick so I don't understand why they charge as they do...supply and demand and that is horrible..so I hope my 9.5 band is filled well and quickly as that is costly. Good luck to you ..let us all know how it went...we ALL want to know..but each of us is different and some will feel resticted where someone else needs more or less to feel that green zone...
  23. So sorry for your bad experience!! How awful and shame on that hospital and those people! I am concerned that you are in such pain. It was not like that for me at all. Some gas problems for the first couple of days and then just feeling the physical affects of anesthesia and surgery. I was banded the 16th of May and I am doing fine. You should call someone immediately about such severe pain.. .and not a nurse!

    Surgical Incisions?

I am not sure if what I see is the lap band itself or the port thru my skin..the bump of it and can feel an object..is this supposed to be like that or an I still just swollen..banded 5/16/12 ? My stitches just came out so I am not sure what is normal ..had it done in Mexico so I have no one local to call. Do have a scheduled fill at a bariatric surgical center on the 18th of June but not sure they will take me as a patient..
