Hello~

I started my journey in December 2011 with an information seminar at the hospital that i chose. After that It was a quick turn around from my initial meet of staff at hospital to my surgery. My first official appointment was in mid January 2012 and my surgery was May 1, 2012. It was sheduled more then a month- month and half out. I had to do the three week pre-surgery diet and I had no issues with that at all and lost about 15 lbs on it.

I have steadly lost weight lose since my first fill and am very excited to start my banded life. I am currently filled at 6cc and will most likely have another one or two. I have had no issues at all with eating any foods. I guess I am very lucky that way. I do small bites, slow chewing and wait a bit for my next bite (which is very hard for me as I am a fast eater).

I have enjoyed losing the weight and seeing the results in getting to wear smaller sized clothes. New clothes and a reason to shop!!!!!!

I had no reservations on my choice to get the surgery and am very happy that I did, this was my first surgery and it was well worth it.

thank you all for the super support, my sister is a great helper in this journey and she is considering it herself. It is fantastic to talk to people that have actually gone through it and get help from them.

thanks again

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
