Back On The Wagon

Recommended Posts

I had my band surgery in Sept 2009. The band was a huge success in my ulitmate goal to have a baby. LO was born on 9/20/11, I'm a mother. I made a tiny human. He's perfect, he's my everything and the spitting image of daddy. I have never been happier and am amazed at my capacity to love him more every day. Seiously, I'm still amazed that we finally have a baby. I'll hold him through is naps and just stare at him amazed that this tiny little perfect human came from DH and I. It's like magic, a little miracle just for us!!

I attribute my success in finally conceiving after 9 years of infertility to the weight loss I achieved with the help of my band. And now, LO is almost 9 months old and I'm shockingly still not back in the 100's. GRR! I remember how excited I was to see a 1 in front of my weight. I wanted to throw a parade! I wanted to frame and savor that moment FOREVER! I vowed to NEVER go back to the 200's again and when I hit 200 in the 7th month of pregnancy I had to remind myself that my baby needed nourishment, I couldn't go crazy with shakes and excercise. But here I am post-baby and stuck. I'm literally less than 1/2 a pound away from Onederland and have been fluctuating within 3 pounds for over 2 months.

I had this same struggle to get below 200 the first time, it took FOREVER for my body to let me get there. So... I'm back on the wagon. I'm back here after over 1 year (probably a lot longer than that) for support again. I CAN do this. I can get back to Onederland. I know I can! And I can reach my goal weight.... as long as no babies interfere again :). Yes, we are trying again... 9 years of trying to get pregnant has us scared to wait.

So, I guess you could say I'm on the wagon as long as fetal invasion doesn't take place again :).

Hello again fellow bandsters. How the hell is everyone doing?!?

Wow, how absolutely amazing! Congrats on finally being able to have that baby! You can definitley get back to onederland, just keep reminding yourself of the key principles of the band and good healthy eating in general. You will do great!

Congrats on getting back into onederland. And way awesome on the baby front!! That was one of my main reasons for getting banded but I have had some setbacks along the way. Don't think a band baby is in my cards... but I am still working on onederland goal. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
