Having a slight unfill is not defeat, it is just part of the banded process. It also isn't the end of fils. You'll most likely be able to go back for another fill after things calm down and you've lost a bit of weight.

I am heading in for a slight unfill soon myself. Just as soon as my insurance approves the visit.

Was able to get into see the PA today she is typically unable to access my port but today we had no other option as my regular dr was doing surgery all day. She did finally get it after a lot of poking and popping scar tissue. She took out 5cc. I had 7 in.feeling so much better. I go back on the 21st to see my dr and may do a small fill at this time. I was down 8 pounds in 3 weeks but not the way I want to loose it!!

Hi JennyBee! My last fill was in Sept of last year. Not sure of the total in my band, somewhere around 6.75 in a 10cc band...could be a bit more or less. I've lost track. My doc has the exact figure. In Feb I got very tight. After 3 weeks I called my surgeon for an appt. Insurance being what it is, they had to get prior approval. It sat on someone's desk and got forgotten. Things loosened up a couple weeks later, but I let the request stay in place.

Few weeks later I got very sick. Didn't eat for a week, lost 10 lbs (only good thing to come out of it!). Missed 3 weeks of work. ER twice. Band got tight again, as it will do when I am sick. This illness was in no way related to my band. So, I called surgeon again, oh, still waiting for approval. Call insurance, it's up to your medical group. UGH!

Finally got approval for the Upper GI my surgeon always runs before a fill/unfill this far out. Had that last week, it shows that food is not moving through as it should. BUT, insurance co. sent a letter denying a visit to surgeon pending more info from primary care doc. NICE.

So, short story long...as I love to do :)

Had a fill, it was fine, then got tight a few months later, now need a teensie bit out, because I am getting stuck a couple times a week, and I don't like that one bit.

I don't like only eating yogurt and smoothies. Some days I can eat just fine, but it is too fine a line right now that will put me over into the stuck zone.

Oooh Cocoa what a story... Sorry you had to go through that! Strange how the band has a mind of it's own and tightens out of the blue right? Huh... Well just glad youre ok, and best of luck always:)

Sometimes, you just have to laugh and deal with it! Yesterday my approval letter to see my surgeon arrived. Didn't get a chance to call for an appointment today. Will do that next week for sure.

Had the tightness been more severe and I had not gotten so sick, I would have been calling and pushing to be seen. It is VERY important to keep your fill level where it should be. Being too tight is never a good thing. And yes, bands to have minds of their own. My is named Bandit as he steals meals from me sometimes. :P The dirty rat.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
