Anyone Getting Banded In July?

My tentative surgery date is July 23rd because of my work schedule. It may change by a week but it looks like I'm gonna be a July baby. Anyone else out there that will be banded in July?

My doc said my tentative surgery date was 7/31 however I still don't have a pre-op appoint with the surgeon and I don't have insurances final approval yet...so I'm very unsure that i will really get it done this month ( and I really want too).

Getting banded on 22nd July 2012. Really excited and nervous at the same time. Here's wishing all of us best of health.

I'm getting banded tomorrow morning. So nervous.

Hello All,

My name is Monisha and I am new to the forum. I am excited for my journey to begin! My surgery date is July 17 :D I hope to make some friends who I can turn to for support! Thanks!

Hello Monisha, I'm also having surgery on July 17th, we can be band buddies!! I'm Maria, nice to meet you! :)

My surgery is in 5 days...excited, nervous and anxious all at the same time

Know how you feel. But its a relief once the surgrey is over. It seemed like forever the day of surgery for it to happen and then before you know it its over. Good luck remember gas x strips they are a life saver and have your jello and broth.

Greetings everyone!

My very first post. I'm getting banded tomorrow. I have a lot of reading to do so I can further educate myself on exactly what I'm getting into, particularly from the point of view of people in my situation ( on this forum.). I am so nervous that I'm trying not to overload with info and make myself even more anxious that I already am. With that said, I'm grateful to have stumbled across the forum.

Patience and self-empowerment are a virtue when going through this process. With all of the labs and records and approvals, I never thought I'd I finally see this day.

I look forward to sharing our collective experiences.

Hello Monisha' date=' I'm also having surgery on July 17th, we can be band buddies!! I'm Maria, nice to meet you! :)[/quote']

Nice to meet you too! I would love that, it would make it a lot easier to have some band buddies. Keep me updated!

I was just banded on July 6th, was re-admitted for extreme gas pain and my kidneys and bladder did not want to wake up after surgery. i am now 1 week post band, and am feeling very discouraged. anyone else banded around a week ago? i would love to have someone else who knows this feeling. i am still extremely sore, bloated, i want real food so bad, and am getting so sick of full liquids..

How are you doing???

I am doing real well, been 8 days since I was banded and I feel 90% normal. Still some twinges depending how I move, plus I still get that brick in my tummy feeling from time to time. But its going a lot better than I could have hoped. My kids and my best friends keep telling me I look like I'm losing weight, but its hard to tell being such a big guy.

Good luck to all the new bandsters.

Go into this journey and take it one day at a time.

Try not to compare yourself to others... don't say... "I'll never be able to eat this or that ever again."

Yes.. I still eat carbs... bread, pasta... the only thing I don't eat is rice or apple skins. Each person is different. DON'T BE AFRAID to try different foods.... I still use a straw (my doctor says it's ok) but no carbonated beverages... even if they are flat.

Take small bites... and chew, chew, chew.. and follow the instructions given to you by your doctor.

I'm here in the hospital and I'm feeling better than I anticipated. I'm very sore but nothing severe. I took a walk around to rid myself of the gas pains. I cannot have anything to drink or sip until tomorrow after I have the barium swallow :(. I'm not hungry just really dry mouth. Congratulations to all those that were banded today, we are finally on the other side!

Nice to meet you too! I would love that' date=' it would make it a lot easier to have some band buddies. Keep me updated![/quote']

Hey I on the 17th as well !!!! Yeah !!! 5 more days ... I am NERVOUS !!!!

I hear ya, I had my last shift at work and now I'm just getting ready.....shopping for all that I need so I don't have to do anything but heal! lol Cleaning ahead, laundry ahead of time...How's the pre-op diet going? Today is the 1st day I'm hungry for food, but it's probably because I'm actually sitting still...I'm nervous too, if I think about the actual surgery itself, so I'm just going to preoccupy my mind with things to do! :)
