Not Sure What Is Going On???

Recommended Posts

I went out to eat with my family and we went to a buffett. I am usually ok at buffett because I can pick a little of things I can eat. So I was eating a little Protein first like usual. And all the sudden I could feel it really tight inside like you have eaten too much. So I sipped on some Water because sometimes it helps things pass through for me. But after that drink of water I had to run to the bathroom. My body was trying to make me throw up but no food would come up just the water. So I was in the bathroom for a while then told my family we needed to leave. I went home and the whole way my body was trying to get the food unstuck and trying to make me throw up. We got home and I was on the couch for a while and I couldnt take it anymore so i drank a lot of water. It instantly came back up and then I felt relief like the food had passed through. So i was very scared about eating anything to dense right at first so i stuck to very soft fod for two days. And now I have tried more dense food and I havent really felt the restriction like before. I hope I didn't mess up my band. I have been reading and to my understanding if your band slips it is usually still painful but I dont have one bit of pain except a little sore throat still from my body trying to throw up. Does anyone have any ideas??

I have been wondering the same thing. Mine does it all the time now. I throw up now the same way you described 3 out of 4 meals I eat. If I try to drink anything...I will throw up what ever I eat. The only difference is that now my body forces whatever I have eaten up. There are times I have not even been able to make it to the restroom. I just Projectile Vomit. Once the food comes up I am fine. i have asked around and No one else seems to have this problem. My Family Dr. told me I need to see the Dr. that did the Lap Band...But, he seems to think I may have a Hytal Hernia. Have not made it to Lap Band Surgeon yet.

I did have this problem about every other time I ate. I had to have an un-fill. They took out 1/4 cc. It made all the difference. Dr said that he thought it was my allergies tightening me up. About a month later I got a 1 cc fill. I now am on a clock with my stop drinking 20 minutes before I'm going to eat and not drink again until 30 minutes after I take my last bite. That has helped, I haven't brought anything up in months.

I just wonder why now I am not feeling much restriction when eating. I wonder if I slipped some.

Congratulations, you have just had your first stuck episode.

You are not supposed to drink when you are stuck as there is nowhere for the liquid to go other than come back up.

It probably happened because you were out and relaxed and not paying as much attention to the way you eat as you normally would. It is a reminder of why you have to take small bites and chew them well etc.

It is highly unlikely that this has caused your band to slip. You are probably just swollen and irritated from being stuck. Stick to soft foods for a while longer and maybe suck crushed ice to help soothe and reduce any swelling. Start adding back normal foods slowly and when you do take extra care of how you eat them.

I agree I think you just had something stuck and then got irritation, (which can be a very vicious cycle) I would go back to your surgeon you may need a little defill you will feel better almost instantly and then slowly work you way back to more dense food. I had this happen before too.

my problem now is that over the last month i kept getting food stuck and got irritated to the point i was vomiting daily and everything was rough going down. so I went back to my dr and she defilled me quite a bit and wants me to have an upper GI for slippage.I feel better now that she defilled but now worrried about eating more and gaining pounds! I am two years out so wondering why now I am having issues?? anyone with tips?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
