Sometimes I Feel Very Restricted, And Sometimes I Don't????

Recommended Posts

I had a fill about 2weeks ago. I felt very restricted, but still comfortable. All of a sudden I can eat way more than I was able to??? I dont understand this band quit yet. The nurse that does my fills said I should be pretty restricted and not need a fill for the rest of the summer. I made an appt and went back for another fil. She only put .02cc in the band. It does not seem like alot, but it sure did make a difference, to much of a difference. I could't hardly eat anything, and I could only take a couple of sips of Water. So I went back for an unfill, but Im in the same boat again, because I can eat more than I know I should. Whats happening, and what should I do???? please help

I've had 4 fills in total. I have 7.5 cc in a 10 cc band. - no efills.

I find sometimes in the morning I'm very tight. If I drink a few sips tea or coffee (some people drink warm Water and lemon) and wait about 10 mins. for I eat I am able to eat my Breakfast with no problems at all.

I host a monthly coffee group of bandsters and many people in my group also find the band too tight in the morning but some people also find their band tight at other times during the day. Many people have tried the warm liquid prior to eating and it works for them.

I'm not always tight in the morning but usually 3 out of 7 days of the week.

Good luck.

Lapbands take time.Restricton is ot automatic, it takes time also. In the am it is tight, in the pm it is looser. Warm liquids ake it lose. Cold makes it tight.

My suggestion to you regrding you being able to eat too much. Measure your food. You should NOT be stuffing your self at all when you have a little bit of restircton.. Try 1 cup of food at t a time.

What are your proirties right now? Eating food or losing weight. Maybe you need to really have to talk with the nurse. Does she have a lapband? Only you and you alone know what kind of restrictioin you have or do not have/ I believe you./.....Why not write these things down every time yoiu have a meal and bring it to her. A picture is worth 1,000 words. good luck...Don't eat too much.

Measure your food intake and stop when the portion is gone. Then gauge how long you are staying satiated.

I have the same issue with inconsistent restriction. Somedays I am tighter than others. That is normal. Your stomach is a moving living organ.

Make sure the food you are eating is dense Protein and not slider food. That will also make a difference in restriction feeling.

If you are at the point that .2cc makes a big difference, you are probably close to your green zone, or are in it.

Measure, eat slow, stop and pay attention. No liquids when eating!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
