Hello all, I had the band almost 3 years ago and have been successful with it thus far. I just have one problem. Over the last two weeks, things have been getting stuck constantly. I am not eating things I shouldn't, but no matter what, things seem to get stuck. I even tried going on the soft diet for a week, it helped a bit but not entirely. It seems that the only times things don't get stuck is when I go out to eat, which I find strange! I live in Illinois but am from Michigan, I had a doctor there but have yet to find one here. I know I need to go but was wondering in the meantime if anyone had any input or suggestions??!?! Thanks so much!

Try a few days on liquids. Sometimes a stuck episode will start a cycle -- get stuck, stoma swells, get stuck, stoma swells, rinse and repeat. My doctor has suggested that having cold things, like sugar free popsicles or ice chips will help with the swelling.

Maybe your band has tightened for some reason. Stress, dehydration, hormones? You should probably go and see your Dr so that he/she can check everything is OK.

Try liquids for a few days to see if it calms the stomach. In the meantime, find a new doctor and schedule an appointment. I would definitely get it checked out.

Find a Dr. there, and arrange to have a slight unfill. Its better then suffering a slip..

After your stomach relaxes, and shrinks, you can always get it filled again.

You may have be a bit swollen, or if you have had any reflux recently that would cause irritation and swelling so you may want to try some otc prilosec along with soft foods or liquids for a few.days.

Hope you get to feeling better.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
