So I been kicking the idea around.. Ive read a lot of topics on here in the past few hours. Im 27 so still somewhat young so ill be honest i still love to go out and drink. Im a big drinker so with that said... I read that beer is basically gonna be a no no... Which sucks but I would rather stay alive past 50. So i guess my question really is am i still gonna be able to party? What drinks can i drink to get drunk on? I have a high tolerance so am i now gonna be that guy that has 3 vodka and crans and be that super drunk guy? Lol. I mean usually when my boys and i get together we end up being those guys but it takes more than 3-4 drinks to reach that.

it is said that beer is a no no and I have drank a few since being banded! It really fills you up faster and gives me extreme gas! I do drink regular and have found that Vodka Water with a sqeeze of lemon seems to be the best but, you will also get drunk way faster. I was a heavy beer drinker and could sit 8-12 hours drinking but now I can't drink more than 3 or 4 vodkas and I am definantly drunk!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
