How Do You Feel Two Weeks Post Surgery?

Recommended Posts

I am getting banded mid-April and want to know how I should feel physically the following 2-3 weeks post surgery? I have asthma so I am concerned. Thanks everyone!

I'm sorry.. I laughed with your question.. my answer was going to be you feel like S*^+#t but the truth is the first couple of days you might feel like your world is moving in slow motion...your tummy at the port incision site is sore and you MIGHT take a pain med, or you might not. Your stomach makes more noise than you can imagine, you burp and pass gas (shhhhh....) and in general you feel like someone just manipulated your internal organs. Hey.. they just did! They go in with several instruments, make 5 incisions (4 tiny ones.. one that is about 1 inch long) and they push your liver out of the way.. get a good view of your stomach and esophagus.. manipulating your insides makes your post op body begin a mini-revolt of its own But heres the good news... ALL good things (and bad) come to an end.. and homostates is regained, I went back to work in 4 days but my tummy still was hurtin.. but by 3 weeks i was back in the gym doing zumba. By 5 weeks I was out dancing salsa and in one more week I'll have my first fill.. MY EXPERIENCE IS MY OWN.. AND EVERYONE HAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT ONE.... GOOD LUCK!!!!

The first week was hell... not due so much to pain, but just terrible weakness and light-headedness! The second week I felt wonderful just because I was so much better than the first week!! Second week I was back to work and all normal activities. I'm 6.5 weeks out now and feel like a million dollars. It's amazing what being down just 20 pounds (including pre-op diet) will do for you!!

my first five days were really tough with the gas in my stomach. i slept most those days away (MAKE SURE TO BUY GAS-X STRIPS LIVE SAVERS) by my second week i was fine! Couldnt sleep on my stomach or anything and incisions were still a little sore but i was back to work and feeling great. everyone is different but as long as you rest up and follow docs directions to a T you will be fine, good luck girl xoxo

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
