Gaining Back All The Weight

Recommended Posts

This is so depressing, I've had my lap band for almost 2 years now. Things were going really well for the first year, I lost 60 pounds in that time, however, in July of 2011 I hurt my back badly and have been bounced around to several different Dr.s for the back pain. All of which continue to give me anti-inflammatory's , which we all know is a no no with the lap band. My back is a mess and I must take some form of pain relief. For the past 6 months I have been nearly bed ridden with the back pain and am just now able to do limited cardio activities, short walks mostly. However due to the back injury I have not been in to see my lap band Dr. in several months. I have gained back all the weight I lost, plus about 16 extra pounds, yes I weigh more now then before the surgery, thus the mass depression I feel. My band is already at 8.0 cc's if I go back to the Dr. can he even help me or is it a waste of money and I am doomed to be "huge" for life. I am so discouraged and I feel so guilty for gaining the weight all back I am so embarrassed to go back to my lap band Dr. Can someone please help?

Go see your Dr. that is what he is there for. People still lose weight even when they don't work out, just slower. You have to start eating the right stuff and the right amount. I suffer from depression for years and you just have to make yourself understand the food will not make you happy if makes it worse.

talk to your lapband dr and (even call office and talk to nurse) and let them know what you've been going through. All doctors want you to succeed with your lapband . Good luck!

I agree with the previous posts. Don't give up. Just call the doctor's office and restart. Sure, it will take time but it will be worth it to lose the weight again. Will probably help with your back pain some too. God Bless!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
