Frustrated And Discouranged

Recommended Posts

Last Monday I had to go to the ER with back pain. They told me my gallbladder needed to come out right away. I waited for my lap band surgen to arrive cause she was the one they called to perform the surgery (was happy about that) Then she told me the really bad news that my band had to be deflated. I was already needing a fill and gaining weight. I now have to wait till Friday to get my band where it was. I am probably still going to need another fill after that. I have gained 2 pounds thourgh all of this. I am so hungry all the time and to top it off I was on my period week which made me even 10 times hungrier. I just feel really discouraged because I was doing so well. I havent been able to really exercise either cause of the surgery so that is just adding more weight tome!! GRRR Thanks for letting me vent everyone!

Setbacks definitely suck, but once you recover from surgery you'll be on track again. Be proud of what you have accomplished so far! Hope your recovery goes well, and feel better soon!

Well, you could eat a bit more, just healthy stuff! Chow down on all the fruits and veggies (and even lean meats, if there are some you can't eat while banded) that give you issues when your band is tight! I would love to dive into some grapes and cherries, and a big veggie stir fry with lots of bean sprouts (whcih are now my nemesis) as weird as that sounds!

sliders are foods that pass the band easily and generally they are not too healthy, like ice cream, potato chips, Cookies, etc.

Yes I have been eating sliders all week. Right now I have no restriction. I know they had to do this but I am still feeling frustrated. I guess I cant be to hard on mysel. Its only 2 pounds and as soon as my band is full again then I will be good to go!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
