Extreme Hunger Pains!!!

Hey Jan 2012 Bandsters! I was banded on Jan. 5th and was recovering just fine until about 3 days ago. I started experiencing very extreme hunger pains after 8pm. My stomach starts rumbling and growling so bad that it hurts. I tried to ease the pains by eating Soup, broth, Jello, pudding and or yogurt (not all at once ) but nothing seems to help. It was so bad the other night that it drove me to tears. I have a high tolerance for pain and I have been hungry before but not like this. Last night I took my liquid pain medicine just so I could get some sleep.

I had my first post-op visit today (I've lost 22lbs since my first visit in August!!!) and the doctor told me to start adding thicker things like yogurt etc. like it was no big deal. 001_huh.gif The nurse told me that the band is usually tighter in the morning and loosens up toward the end of the day so that's why I'm probably getting hungry at night.

I have two more weeks on liquids and I am counting down to the day when I am able to start adding purees! Has anyone else had any bad hunger pains?

Hungry in the City!

Hey- I'm just three days out and have heard my stomach growling, but no hunger pains as of yet. My Protein Shakes are finally running right through me so I think I need to up my Water. Its so hard getting all my fluids, all my Protein etc in. I've been off pain meds since yesterday. I just want to feel like my old self. I don't like not having energy. I've been gradually doing things around the house. Great job on your weight loss so far! Thats promising and inspiring! I've yet to get on a scale. Figured I would wait until my first appt. Keep me posted. We can do this!

I am 10 days out and am hungry!! I am like mags I can't seem to get all my Protein in and drinking enough Water is like pulling teeth. I can't wait to finally be able to chew something. We can do this though...we just have to remember why we put ourselfs through this. For me it is remembering the day I bought a shirt because it was long enough to hide my rolls, then found myself online buying 3 more just like it, not because it was cute but because it fit. Sounds petty but everyday I try to think of one more thing about being fat that I hate. We can do this!!

Hello well I had my surgery on Jan. 11, 2012 and I'm at the point now where I have the gas pains and hunger pains. I don't really have surgery pain anymore but I keep taking my pain meds so I can sleep. sleeping is the best way for me to get through the 2 weeks of liquids. I am having trouble getting my Protein and Water in and I usually like pudding and Jello but right about now I can't bring my self too eat it. I think it is all just in my head that I really need to chew somehthing. On a brighter note I have lost 5 lbs since my surgery. I know I will get through this I just have to find something to take my mind off of eating.

I am now 12 days post-op and I still get hunger pains but they don't last as long as they did when I started this topic. purplebananna.gif I have been trying to stay on a schedule with my fluids and I think that has helped. I also starting eating/drinking Egg Drop Soup (very yummy!) This morning I made some oatmeal and put in in the blender....it was very good and filling.

How are your hunger pains now. Are you sticking to liquids or are you on mushies?

Hi Babybandster...I am happy to say that I no longer have painful hunger pains. I still get hungry but it's normal hunger. Officially I still have 4 more days of full liquids but I have already started some mushies. I tried a poached egg this morning which was okay except for the runny yolk (yuck)! I have also tried split pea Soup which I liked especially since it has 10 grams of Protein per serving. I'm looking forward to having chicken salad next week! How are you doing?

Well I am now 12 days out of surgery. I couldn't do it anymore so this morning I made myself 1 scrambled egg and it was like eating a big piece of cake. LOL It went down fine and I didn't have any problems with it. I see the Dr. tomorrow and I'm hoping he will tell me to go ahead and eat my soft food diet. I started at the gym last week and i have been going and walking on the treadmill and riding the bike. It actually feels good to exercise. I have lost 17 lbs so far and I actually had someone tell me today that I looked great. That is always nice to hear. I still have my hunger pains but they aren't as bad as before. I will let you know how my Dr's appt goes tomorrow. Stay focused everyone it will be well worth it in the end.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
