from my understanding, The gas from the carbonation will fill you and you will not want to eat the nutrients you need or get the Water

Oh my, I forgot about the no pop rule, that explains why I eat more now and have gained back weight.

I think I need to start over on my program, can anyone help me get started?

I have had a little bit of carbonated drink, and it is horrible - the bubbles all get stuck in the bottom part of my stomach, and give me gas pain like the early days after being banded. I have to lean forward and shake like a crazy person to try and get the gas up into the top part (the pouch) and burp it out. It's horrible. So not worth it.

Some people can drink soda with no problem...unfortunately I am not one of those people. I was at a party and the host gave me a drink but failed to mention that it was carbonated, and I was in agony! It's just not worth it for me to try.

Trust me, you won't want to. At least I don't. I don't have a problem if it's watered down... But if it's fresh, it kills. I'm not a huge soda drinker anyway so it wasn't difficult for me to give up.

I used to drink a fair bit of coke zero, but after having those couple of mixed drinks and suffering through the gas getting stuck in the bottom part of my stomach, I can confidently say "never again".

Agreed. It won't stretch the pouch because as a liquid it will pass right through. (unless you're eating at the same time, in which case you will have other problems)

It has more to do with the buildup of gas below the band.

I gave up things like Coke a long time ago. But since being banded I still drink beer. Not a lot in a short period of time, and NEVER with food in my stomach. I just got rid of my beer belly.

people Exaggerate on here you can drink pop just slow, wait for the fizz to go away a little bit and nothing is going to happen to you from drinking it

What possible reason would I have to want to exaggerate or lie about my experience?

Carbonation sometimes gives me the hiccups on the first sip. Sometimes not. For soda, to me, it just isn't worth it. Now, for a beer from time to time, I'll risk it! 001_tt2.gif

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
