This is my first day on this site. I plan to have my consultation on December 2nd and have my lapband put on January 29th. How do you put how many days until your surgery in a bar and then how many pounds you have lost or how many pounds until you hit your goal weight on a bar at the bottom of a post?

Talk to me about how I will feel the first couple days after. Will I be ok to get in a car and travel 4 hours home the day after surgery? I am a corporate trainer. Will I be able to teach the week after? I will be on my feet all day.

You may be uncomfortable riding 4 hours in a car the day after surgery. Talk to your doctor about his/her recommendations. as far as working the following week, that's what I did. I'm a social worker, so I planned to be at my desk for the first few days. IT worked ok. I was exhausted by the end of the day

though.

I had my surgerry on the 11th November. I was expecting to go back to work a couple of days later but I had to take the rest of the week off. Im a disability support worker and I work weekon/week off, Im hoping that I will be ok to go back to work this Wednesday. My surgery was 9 days ago and I have only just been able to get out of bed without any assistance.

I really think that everyone's post-op experience is different. I was in an extreme amount of pain; I was regretting the whole thing for about 24 hours. I felt a lot of stomach pain from the surgery, pain in my shoulders, chest and abdomen from the carbon dioxide, and I was sick from being so hungry. Most of the time I wasn't sure what was causing me pain.

Please understand though, that most of the people I have spoken to had a better experiencxe than I did. Everyone is different.

My trip home was about an hour. I didn't realise that the roads were so bumpy until I had my operation. It wasn't too bad; my sister was very good and tried to avoid the pot holes.

For a 4 hour trip I would recommend breaking it up into four 1 hour lots, with 20 minute breaks. This will give your body time to relax. I find that you tense up quite alot while driving, which causes pain. Try and relax, and get a really soft pillow to sit on to try and absorb some of the jolting.

Other than that, be happy about your decision. Know that when the surgery is done, and you begin to heal, you will be looking much healthier.

I know all people are not as fortunate as I was, but my post op experience was a breeze. I was up walking an hour after surgery and walked the halls constantly until they let me go home! My sister, who's an RN, and I went shopping and out to lunch on the second day post op. I never had trouble getting out of bed on my own or making my broth to eat. I ate very little that fiest week after surgery because anesthesia wipes out my appetite for a week! Everyone is so different so I would let your doc advise you on the 4 hour ride home. Also I was walking with my newborn in a front pack two days after my c-section, much to my OBGYN's dismay, two days after being released. And went back to work for a half day the next day after having my gall bladder removed. Everyone's body reacts soooo differently. I think it helped me having two abdominal surgeries prior to being banded. Best of luck and I so happy for you! You will Love the results!
