Scars after surgery

I was just curious to know if the scars go away over time?

I have been using Mederma scar gel ever since my wounds healed. My surgery was on July 28 so it hasn't been that long, but all but the large one are barely visible.

My surgery was August 31st and I too am using Mederma ( you can purchase this at your local Walmart) and yes it does work grat to fade scars.Just remember to keep your scars out of the sun and they will fade faster. If you try to tan on your belly in a tanning bed or by laying outside where the scars are located they will stay red a lot longer. And if your scars are noticeable you can always cover them up with Dermablend makeup and some powder dusted over top of this. You can buy Dermablend at (I think) Hudson Belk's.

The small incision between my breasts is gone completely - and I can barely see the belly button one - 14 months out. I will say that subsequent scars don't heal as well in my opinion. I notice that I may be a little Vitamin deficit in the Vitamins that promote healing. For example, I got a tattoo in July that took a week to peel (instead of 2-3 days). And my plastic surgeon says that we need Vitamin therapy before any subsequent surgeries.

This Halloween will be six years Banded, and I don't see any scars, just the big one is slightly visible.

I can't tell you how many years it's been this way, but I know at least a couple of years....

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
