I'm Back

Recommended Posts

I'm glad to be back! Not that I had a reason to go anywhere, but I readily admit that I tend to struggle with depression. For some reason, mine is worse during the summer months as opposed to the seasonal disorder that people usually have during the winter. Anyway, I was a bit bummed in part because I didn't meet my goal of reaching 300 pounds by my birthday on July 23rd. But I'm learning that any progress is a good thing, and I currently weigh 308. So I should be reaching my goal any day now. I'm trying not to beat myself up just because it's not happening in my timeframe.

I also wanted to point out just what a valuable resource this forum is! I'm on my 3rd fill (which I've had for almost a month now), and I joined the slime club last weekend. I also had an incident earlier tonight, so I'm going to have to be more careful. In both cases, I had gone too long without eating, so I ate too quickly. I also learned that when something gets stuck, you have to take it easy for a day or so. I had a little trouble with my Protein Drink just now, but thank God it went down. Needless to say, I think I'll be having tea this morning instead of coffee!

I am glad that you have checked in with us. I live in the Fort Worth area myself and this summer has had all of us stuck in the house for long stretches. Hopefully this weather that we have this week will stay a little while. I think that you have done great since you were only banded in April. I hope that you continue to feel better.

I appreciate your encouragement. Enjoy the nice weather!

You can do it! My last fill did the same thing to me...I now have to open up my effexor to take it, I am afraid it will get stuck. Oh well, life with the lap band! I have times where my depression is also worse, but I have to work through it and keep going. It is hard but it is something I have to do for myself. Good luck

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
