Not Quite in Bandster Mentality

Recommended Posts

hey fellow bandsters! I haven't posted in forever but I thought I would because I'm finally at a fill that will only allow me to eat 3-4oz. The mental problem I'm having is that I want to eat so much more! I've only over eaten twice, and got sick enough the second time to never do that again!

Has anyone else dealt with that? It's so strange to me that a few bites makes me full and I sometimes I just want to eat more because it's delicious..

I'm am struggling with the same thing right now! I am trying so hard to stick to three Protein filled meals, but sometimes I over eat or graze! It's a problem!! lol The other part of my problem is that right now I'm staying at someone else's house for the week and they keep LOTS of food here! In my home, I only keep exactly what I'm eating for the week (for the most part) and no snack food. It keeps me from going crazy with eating and eliminates my snacking. So maybe remove temptation?

After three years I STILL feel like I need to eat huge amounts! I will still serve myself the same amount of food that everyone else is eating, it's such a mental thing, just like you said, Agdunkle!

It is an UGLY mental thing. I have had my band over 2 years, just this past July did I start understanding some of what is going on. I got a fill on the 11th, I have never had consistent restriction. However, I am seldom hungry. I tried not eating unless I was hungry, that doesn't work; starvation mode and the body holds onto everything. I am trying to eat 3 proper meals but I can't do it. Today I didn't feel tight, I just didn't want to try much of anything. Greek yogurt for Breakfast, 2 strawberries for lunch. dinner was 2 potato skins and a cheese stick. At no point was I hungry and I felt like I had eaten a turkey all day. I am not stuck, I just feel full even without eating. Then I run into a slice of Cheesecake and I'm done for. I hate my circle even though I know what to do, I can't seem to do it. If I don't loose some weight soon I might do another fill just because I don't know what else to do.

The mental aspect is every bit as important as the physical. I remember years ago hearing some anorexic starlet (I think it was Heather Locklear) say, "I don't care how good it is. As soon as I start to feel full I stop eating." I had some not so kind thoughts for her! But now, I totally get it!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
