Just a little FYI about Care Credit for those who are 100% self pay.

Total cost of all preliminary tests, labs, x-rays, etc was $9,900 and included unlimited office visits for the first year for seeing the surgeon just for a follow-up, fills, or anything d/t complications.

I applied to CC for a $10,000 line of credit. So I had to be very careful to pay a little ahead before my first pymt was due because the interest would have put me over the limit.

Okay so, as of today I owe $9,831.83 and my minimum payment due is $235.00 (second pymt). I paid extra on the first payment. I sent in $300.

Anyhow, the Regular APR is 26.99%, however I signed up for a fixed pymt reduced APR of 14.90%. But they have an even sweeter deal if you can afford it - 0% interest if paid in full in 6, 12, and 18 months.

So, really if you have to finance it through CC for 60 months you really want to try your best to make extra payments to help lower your OOP costs. If I paid just the monthly payment my band would end up costing $13, 957.00 over 60 months.

I thought this bit of info would be helpful to anyone who was looking around for a way to finance their band. Everyone's needs and budgets will be different. Good luck, and if you want it bad enough you will find a way to get it in time. :D

Although I have insurance approval already.............I thought that was very nice of you to post this information. Had I been self pay I would have found this info beneficial. Thank you for your assistance for others.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
