I was just curious if anyone else has discomfort sitting in a regular chair? I am sure this is normal, but I just like to make sure. I sit comforatably in a recliner where I can lean back, but sitting in an office chair is a bit uncomfortable. I guess everything is just kind of pushed together. I was banded on August 1st. So far, everything has gone smoothly.

Wow, you aren't even a week post-op. You're still healing and certain positions are just harder on the stomach area. I had the same issue though, see if your chair at work can tip back and forward kind of like a rocker. When I did that my problems with the pain stopped. I also stopped getting back aches.

It will be uncomfortable for a little while, but it definitely goes away fairly soon. I think I was about a week and a half post-op before all pain stopped, and even then I still had some port twinges if I bent over.

I had trouble with office chair. Took heating pad to work because I cannot take narcotic pain meds while on duty. Did that for 3 weeks post op. Better now. I'm going into 5th week.

Yes...I have some discomfort sitting in a regular chair. I too can do the recliner, but sitting up for too long is very uncomfortable and I have to lay down for a bit . I think this is just normal. Everything has gone smoothly for me as well but I sit in a chair at work and I am a bit concerned that I will not be able to sit as long as I normaly do. Would it look funny if I stood and answered the phones ? LOL....

I had my surgery last Thursday and came back to work on Monday. Monday was very uncomfortable in the office chair. I had to keep getting up and walking around. But it has gotten better each day and today I actually feel great. So yes, ou will be uncomfortable for a little while, but it does go away. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
