Lap Band comes out tomorrow! Hallelujah!

Recommended Posts

:D I am so ecstatic to be getting this foreign object outta me! I was banded in November 2003 and lost ~90lbs in the first year and a half. Then ended up needing to take celebrex for bursitis and my stomach swelled (this was in June 2007). Since then have not been able to tolerate any Fluid in my band and I still vomit up some foods - I can't eat any fruits/vegetables - and I've gained all my weight back. I just want this thing gone and tomorrow it will be !!! I'll be started weight watcher's as soon as I'm allowed to eat a regular diet again.

Good luck. I hope everything works out for you and I'm sorry about the problems you've had. By your screen name I am assuming that you are a nurse. You certainly know that Celebrex is an NSAID and you should not be taking it as a lapband patient. I understand that Bursitis is very painful and you needed to relieve the pain. Did you try Cortisone injections? Again, I wish you luck and hope you are able to find success in your journey.

I agree with CindyC. It was probably the celebrex that messed things up.

Good luck on your surgery.

Good luck to you. I have been having problems with my port since I got the band. I can eat and hold down food its just the pain and uncomfort and I cannot tollerate anymore. I'm so ready to have the band removed. If all goes well financially I hope to have it done in Oct.

All the best to you.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
