How did you overcome our plateau???

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery in September of 2010 and my last fill was on on May 24th. He could only get in .8 because he said I was already tight. I have been at the same weight now for the last 4 weeks. Can't seem to lose a pound. I did join the gym about 3 weeks ago and work out 5-6 days per week. I was sure hoping to start losing again. I am really close to my "goal" weight and now I am afraid maybe I will not get there. I use myfitnesspal to log all my food and exercise everyday.

So my question is......when you have hit a plateau what did you change to start the weight loss again??

Eat less or move more..or maybe you need to eat more because you're exercising.

If you just started exercising and are doing that much exercise, you may not be "losing" because you are building muscle.

I agree. I see all the time on here about people complaining about not losing when they're busting their butt in the gym but it's true. Muscle weighs more than fat so you might be becoming more lean instead. Try taking your measurements. You might be able to see a difference that way.

Not true. As someone who is TRYING to put on muscle, a day in the gym, nor a week, builds true muscle, sorry. It takes eating excess calories and lifting heavy weights to put on muscle mass. Another crazy exercising myth. Muscle doesn't come easy.

If anything her muscles are holding onto more Water weight which may be reflecting on the scale.

Check your measurements. I was banded two weeks ago, lost a LOT of weight before surgery, and only lost 3 pounds after surgery. But lost 2 INCHES OFF MY WAIST AND HIPS!!! 4 inches in two weeks. If you're hitting gym and eating right, you probably are losing inches in your thighs, hips, arms, legs, but may not necessarily see impact right away. Take measurements today and do again in one week. If you haven't lost pounds, maybe you will have lost inches. :)

A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat. Muscle is simply more dense, and therefore gives off a "thinner" "leaner" look.

Well, yes that is true. I guess I worded it wrong.

But, still checking your measurements is the way to go. I'm sure it'll lift your spirits! :D

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
