Any Banders in the Greensboro, NC area??? CCS??

Recommended Posts

Are there any of you out there!!?? :help:

My name is Rebecca. I am a proud mother of three ages 4, 2 and 5 months. I've been overweight since I was a child. With the birth of my son this past August came the realization that being healthy is more important now than ever.

I am currently in the process of getting all of my paperwork to the surgeons office.... once my "packet" is complete - they will set me up with appointments for the nutritionist, psych exam, and then schedule surgery.

I've hit a bump in the road, though. I recieved a call yesterday from the surgeons office saying that BCBS will require me to have 5 years worth of doctors notes showing supervised weight-loss attempts. I have notes from 1999 showing a prescription for Xenical and advise to diet/exercise. I think I can get a hold of records from 2002 from a bariatric center I went to. I also saw a nutritionist in 2003. But that's all I can think of. Supervised??? I can't tell you how many doctors I tried to discuss my weight with....and was told to "just diet and exercise." Why would I turn to those same people to "supervise" me tackle the biggest challenge of my life?? What was perhaps even more discouraging was that the woman I was speaking with was anything but helpful. I truly believed that the Surgeons office would help with this part of the process.....that they cared. Maybe I was just naive.

I'm wondering.... could those of you who were approved with the same requirement talk to me more about the definetion of "supervised weight loss?" How specific must these records be? The receptionist at the doctors office was anything but helpful when I asked for mroe details.

Where do you stand now?

My package is complete now and I'm waiting for BCBS of NC to accept...

CCS is not a very friendly surgical center, but i've tried to just go on and let them do their thing.

I would go to WS, but I want to be closer for fills.

I have my first appointment with Dr. Pryor next week on Sept. 1. I am curious to know how the process has been. Have you found it easy? Any insight you could share would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone! My name is Heather and my lap band is scheduled for Sept 9th with Dr. Pryor at Duke. Very excited but getting nervous! Good luck to everyone!:w00t:

Hey Heather! I have chosen to see another surgeon named Dr. Enochs in Cary(don't know if you have ever heard of him) but they never answer the phone and you have to leave a msg for them to return your call...i am getting to fed up, i have left two messages and no one has returned my call yet.:blushing: But i have decided that maybe i should start looking for another surgeon in that area before i get to deep in the process, so i came across Dr. Pryor and i wanted to ask you what you thought of her and he office? oh yea congrats on your soon to be band success:thumbup:.

I am also going through the process with Dr. Enochs. While it is sometimes difficult to get to someone on the first try, they do return your call. I am interested in hearing how everything goes and whether or not you have any advice for working with his office since you are further along in the process.

I went to the seminar with Dr. Enochs, but was told my insurance (Aetna) did not cover them. My closest option is CCS in Greensboro. Has anyone been banded by them? How was your experience? I just attended their seminar (had to drive from Raleigh) last week.

I was banded by them over a year ago. Dr. Hoxworth was my surgeon. I've had only good experiences w/ this office and would recommend them to anyone. They've got the whole process down to a science and the coordinator helps make all of the appointments you need.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
