STOPPED LOSING??

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Had lap band surgery 2/8/2011 and it has been going great. Still eating small amounts and no sugar and lots of fruits and vegi's and Protein every meal. Basicall drink through the morning with Protein Shakes. Had initial fill 3.5 cc then .5ccc and another .5cc but nothing since May because I was losing and feeling restriction. I am exercising 3-5 X per week have mixed up the cardio and doing some weight training. I'm averaging 1200-1400 cals per day. I've lost 65-70 lbs depending on the day . have been up/down 5 lbs for 3 weeks now. Not sure if it is the weight training or my metabolism just readjusting. Need to lose 70 more. Any suggestions? Next fill assessment July 26.

Are you eating only 3 meals a day? 1200-1400 calories sounds like too much to me. Dr. O'Brien's book says to aim for less than 1200.

You have plateaued. Almost everyone reaches a weight loss plateau at some point in their fitness lives. The reason is that the human body works hard to keep energy intake and output in balance. In other words, your body does not like to lose weight (not a revelation, huh?). After your initial weight loss, your progress will slow down and eventually stop even though your exercise and food intake is consistent. I suggest P90X. It prevents you from plateauing by using muscle confusion. It accelerates your results by constantly introducing new moves and routines so your body never plateaus. My hubby lost 30 lbs on it and is still losing. No plateau yet!

Here is the link so you can take a look at it https://extranet.securefreedom.com/MillionDollarBody/csShopping/ShoppingCart_Detail.asp?PriceID=93429&Cat=FitnessProgram|P90X&Qty=1

It happens to mist of us - you either need to increase your exercise or reduce you calories. A for under 1200 & I'm pretty sure you don't need to be paying for additional suppelments. You have the right tools just need adjusting. I list 110 pounds in about 18 months and you are heading in the same direction. Good luck!

Are you drinking Protein Shakes in the morning in addition to Breakfast? If so that might be your problem. If you can't go 4-5 hours before feeling hungry you need a fill. You should be getting your calories from solid foods. Full disclosure I do have a Ready to Drink Protein Shake (160 calories) as a prework out snack because I go about 8 hours between lunch and dinner since I work out between them.

Everyone plateaus from time to time. I've had several, and I got through them by switching up my exercise routine and changing my eating habits. I tend to get into a routine of eating the same things every day (especially for breakfast and lunch). Sometimes your body just needs a break, a chance to catch up and readjust. Your weight loss will most likely slow down as well the closer you get to your goal. As my doctor described to me, your metabolism will change and it will take a lot more movement to burn the calories the thinner you are. If you're hungry more than usual, you might need a fill too. Hang in there and don't get discouraged...we all go through it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
