My pre-op diet is officially started. I kind of wish I had a better "last meal". Haha

I'm pretty excited about it though because it means I'm one step closer to the surgery.

Wish me luck!

:D

Good luck! Ive been on my pre-op diet for 9 days now... And I've lost 9 pounds! Pretty cool. What's your diet consist of? I just have to eat high Protein and low, low carb. I usually have a couple Protein shakes during the day and then a high Protein dinner. Not too shabby.

Good luck! When's the surgery?

Thanks so much guys!

I'm on the high Protein, low carb diet as well. For Breakfast, I just fixed 2 eggs and 3 slices of Canadian Bacon. I imagine I'll be having a lot of that during the next 2 weeks, as well as chicken and tuna. Haha I'm not too creative with food. I just feel lucky that I'm not on the Clear liquids diet that some people have to go on.

The surgery is on the 25th. Only 14 days, I can't believe it's almost here!

First surgeon visit and my doc just put me on the 1000 cal diet, what I notice it is all fat free, I have 3 mo medically supv program prior to surgery, I underatd the fat free for the liver thing...What I didn't see is any eggs or egg beaters and was wondering why, I can live off them and thought it was good protein.. anyone?

Thank you Diva and Jen!

I guess your doctor is aiming for fat free food instead of low carb? I think eggs have a high percentage of calories from fat but that isn't saying a lot since there isn't a lot of calories in eggs to begin with. In my opinion, eggs are the perfect food for this kind of diet because of all the Vitamins and nutriets it has, as well as, high Protein, and 0g of carbs. I guess you could always ask your doctor if you're allowed to have them.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
