First Post....New & Excited!

Recommended Posts

Hello to all at LBT!!

This is my first post, but I have been lurking and learning for a couple weeks now. I have been doing a lot of research regarding the band and have found this site to be the most informative for a variety of topics. I especially appreciate the candor along with the warmth I have seen here.....I really feel blessed to have found this site through a google search.

I had my consultation last week and have scheduled my psy eval for Feb 6th. All the paperwork is in line to get approval and I can't wait to get a surgery date!!

My husband is going to have the surgery after me. It will be nice to do this together. We can't really do it at the same time b/c we have 2 toddler boys. We both need to take weight off just to keep up with them. We also hope to have another child after 2 yrs has passed since my band (per surgeon....this is the best timeframe to wait).

I have never been part of a site like this, but I know it will play an important role in my success. It has already confirmed that I'm doing the right thing. I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Welcome 3loves! Encourage your hubby to join as well. There's plenty of support and encouragement for the both of you.

Good luck on your approvals. I hope the go thru without any problems and that you are both on your way before you know it.

Cheers!

Hey 3 Loves - WELCOME! I am envious of you and your husband doing this together - I think that's great!!! I'm trying to get my dad and sis to do it with me. I get to be guinea pig for now - they're watching me and if all goes well think that they, too may join me. I'd love to have my family for company on this trip! Best of luck to you and keep us posted.

Kim

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
