Could I be too tight or is this stress???

Recommended Posts

I have been experiencing some problems recently and I am not sure whats going on. I was banded 3/28/11 and I have never felt restriction until just recently after my second fill 2 weeks ago! He put 2 cc's in my band for a total of 3 cc's (this was my 2nd fill). I felt fine the first week but this week has been a horrible stressful week at home and at work. I have heard on this forum that the band can tighten with stress. I have not had much of an appetite and last Thursday actually got stuck after chewing very well and finishing my dinner. I felt like I had food caught in my throat and just took a tiny sip of Water to help it go down and it felt like everything was going to project out!!! I ran to the bathroom and a little came up but nothing I did made it move. After about 20 minutes of coughing burping and pain, I felt better. I am also getting over a cold and have a cough so I am wondering if this cough and sore throat could be related to that???? It does seem to be related more to eating then my cold though!!! I have to drive over an hour a way and hate to get the Fluid removed if it's related to stress or this cold!!! Plus my doctor is sick and they have to squeeze me in tomorrow so I am sure he is going to be busy!!! I haven't had any nausea. I can eat salad and chew fine without a stuck feeling. My throat just feels really rough like there is sand in it, I also feels like there is just something there!!! I have lost 9 lbs in 2 wks. because I have to remind myself to eat, but that could be related to the amazing stress level too.

Thanks!

Drink fluids, taking slow sips. Would you happen to be @ that time of month as well?

To answer your question" yes stress can cause the band to be fickle and tighten. Some people report a cold or being under the weather causes their band to tighten as well.

Tis there anyway to lower your stress level? Deep breathing, meditation, Adavan?

Hope you get through this soon

Thanks for your reply!!! I no longer have my period I have had a hysterectomy ;0 I think it might be related to not feeling well and stress because it seems to be off and on. I don't feel super tight all the time!!! I researched since i have written this and I am going to try papaya enzyeme and pineapple!

I asked my surgeon if I could have some Xanax similiar to Ativan. I was involved in a rollover accident one month after my surgery and I took xanax I not only was relax but I had zero restriction!!!! I also never got stuck!!! I didn't take much! I thought that had something to do with it, but my lapband surgeon won't prescribe it and my MD is out of the country!!!

I am going to try to keep mediation, but when the stress level goes up it is tough to deal with it and I don't see it going away anytime soon!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
