totally bummed

Recommended Posts

:cry i am so totally bummed! i just found out that before i can get my band done i have to have cardiac clearance due to an abnormal ekg. the soonest i can get in to have that in is feb 17-21. that will push my band back to 3/3 instead of 2/3. i have had ekg's in the past and they usually come back abnormal because i have very tiny arteries. nevertheless, they wont do it until i get cardiac clearance. this is also going to push back my dh band surgery also until april rather than march. im just so bummed i could just cry. i was so excited and looking forward to next friday.

I feel your frustration... I was originally supposed to be banded in February or March of 2005 and it was postponed until the end of July. I shed a few tears myself, but just know that the big day WILL come. Hang in there!

Ah - I'm sorry! I know that sucks a bunch to have been all ready to go and then been postponed.... It's only a month though - hang in there! It will fly by!

The reason I got banded was because I have a heart problem BAVD (Bicuspid Aeortic Valve Disease) and I needed to get this darn weight off for my hearts sake............ So god forbid that you do have a problem with your heart I really don't believe it will affect your getting banded.

Good luck and I'll Keep my fingers crossed for you.

Does having a bicuspid aortic valve a comorbity for the weightloss surgery? Is it considered cardiovascular disease?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
