I am getting a lot of air in my protein shakes. Help!

Recommended Posts

I'm using a magic bullet and have noticed I'm getting about 2" of air floating above the shake. I used 1 scoop of Jay Robb, 1/2 cup canned sliced peaches, 1 cup 1% milk, and 4 ice cubes. I have to keep the bullet pulsating for 20-30 seconds minimum to puree the peaches since I'm only 8 days post-op.

What am I doing wrong or is there a fix to this besides putting it in the fridge and waiting for the air to dissipate?

It's pretty normal when you blend the shake. Try stirring it with a spoon in the bullet to break up the air bubbles.

I did that and within a minute the bubbles came back.

Any time you use a blender product you'll get a lot of air in your shake. There's no way around it. However, you can make a couple of changes with how you blend your shake - and what you're using in it. To reduce the air, blend the peaches and ice first and blend well, then add the Protein powder and milk and blend for 5-10 seconds.

The ingredients you're using in your shake are also much higher in calories than is necessary.

With two small changes you can decrease the calories of your shake by 33% and increase the percentage of Protein in that meal by 20%.

YOUR SHAKE NOW

110 calories - 1 scoop of Jay Robb (25 g protein)

100 calories - 1/2 c canned sliced peaches (0.6 g protein)

102 calories - 1 cup 1% milk (8 g protein)

---------------------------------------

312 calories - that's 26% of your daily intake (33.6 g protein - 43% protein). Fine for now, but may derail you later.

FRESH fruit AND SKIM MILK

110 calories - 1 scoop of Jay Robb (25 g protein)

38 calories - 1 whole peach cut up (skin too, it's beneficial) (1 g protein)

82 calories - 1 cup skim milk (8.5 g protein)

-----------------------------------------

230 calories - 19% of your daily intake (34.5 g protein - 60% protein), and more protein

FRESH FRUIT AND SOY MILK

110 calories - 1 scoop of Jay Robb (25 g protein)

38 calories - 1 whole peach cut up (skin too, it's beneficial) (1 g protein)

60 calories - 1 cup light Soy Milk (6 g protein)

-----------------------------------------

208 calories - 17% of your daily intake (32 g protein - 62% protein).

Hi! I have the same problem. I find if I blend the fruit and ice first, the air bubbles are usually less because I don't have to blend the milk as long. Usually 5-10 seconds works.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
