My favorite mushy meal

Recommended Posts

In our nutrition class they said Beans have too much starch and we're not supposed to reincorporate them until we've lost 75% of our excess weight and salsa has tomatoes - we're not allowed tomatoes due to them technically being a fruit. Not allowed any fruit until losing 75% of the excess weight. My dr runs a pretty strict program on the diet until you've lost most of your weight. He says we need to relearn how to eat and by avoiding these things, it will help to avoid cravings. I used to eat LOTS of fruit, but since I haven't been eating it for almost a month now, my cravings and appetite have changed quite a bit. Not allowed milk either due to the carbs (I drink soymilk, and that was not allowed either).

To anyone that's reading this - I don't think of my dr poorly for this and I've actually found that it is working (for me at least) and I want to succeed. I've read a lot of people don't like when their dr's have restrictions like this, but I personally think I need it and it's helping me and I think the world of my dr and his entire office!

Why aren't you allowed to have Beans or salsa?

So, I know this isn't the food/recipes forum, but I just had to share my favorite fulfilling mushy dinner so far.

I put a can fat free refried Beans, a half a cup of salsa, about a tablespoon of cottage cheese, and a sprinkle of taco seasoning in the food processor and pureed until smooth. I then measured out a half cup of the mixture, sprinkled some shredded cheese on top and warmed it up in the microwave. I finished it off with a small dollop of sour cream. It was shockingly tasty and very filling! My husband was having a very Mexican dinner that I couldn't have, and I didn't even feel deprived! I was so pleased with myself! lol. thumbup.gif

I have 2 things... Soup & chili!

Chipotle chicken Chili

Southwest chicken Soup

The soup is easy...5 cans...

1 can of black Beans, drained and rinsed

1 can Rotel (tomatoes & peppers), drained

1 can corn, drained

1 large can of chicken broth

1 can of chicken, drained

Mix together, add in seasonings you like...

I like to caramelize onions 1st, and then add in the corn & Rotel , then add in beans and chicken. I really don't like canned chicken, so I use rotisserie or left overs...

Add Water...

Oh, and you can put rice or Pasta if you want. It's great soup!!

Ny nutritionist has encouraged legumes as being a really good source of Protein for me, I love this recipe! I will definitely try it when I get to the mushy stage. Yumm! I really love Mexican food, so healthier options for Mexican food are a-ok on my list :D

wow, that sounds like a very restrictive diet plan,Papillon Princess . But if it is working for you, who am I to say anything. I am working hard to make this a lifestyle not a diet...but I have given up bread. Just can't eat it as a "normal" person and not sure how my band would handle it. I also can't eat chips/ice cream in moderation so they are out...LOL.

Your recipe sounds good, Little Teapot. I will have to try it...I am off of mushies but I do like to try different things and will be good if I get another fill. Only had one fill so far and haven't needed another one. I get bored eating the same things over and over. I found that I like lots of favor in the foods I do eat....lots of Protein and veggies, some fruit and a little starch. Of course chocolate....that TOM always gets me...LOL.

Thanks!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
