Well...Surgery is at 7:30 AM tomorrow morning....Got to be there at 5:30....I'm just having surgical anxiety...not nervous about the band AT ALL....nervous about surgery...never had surgery before IN MY LIFE...Hospital is about an hour away so I'm not looking forward to the drive there (maybe I'll sleep on the way there)

Good luck Freddy! I feel nervous the same way you do, not the band but the actual surgery. Surgery will be over before you know it! You wouldn't be human if you weren't nervous. Will be thinking of you :)

I feel ya! My surgery is this Friday. I couldn't be happier about having the band, but the only surgery I've ever had was when I was 5. I have a good hour or so drive to my hospital too. I plan on listening to my favorite "booty shake" music. lol. Dancing_wub.gif

Maybe listening to your favorite music and singing along will help ease your nerves on the way to the hospital. Just think, it will all happen so fast...just picture yourself waking up in recovery and think about how accomplished you'll feel. Good luck man!

I'm with ya! I check in tomorrow at 5:45am! I also live about an hour away, so not looking forward to the drive... I'm excited but also nervous also! I'm glad this pre-op is over though, that was rough! I know after being banded won't be easy, but at least I'll have more variety to drink, and eventually eat!!

Good Luck!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
