Buddy/Mentor Needed For Large Weight Loss Goal

Recommended Posts

Hello. I was banded on April 27th, and I weigh a LOT. :)

My all-time highest weight was 365 pounds. I fluctuated between 325 and 350 in the six months prior to surgery, and my weight on the day of surgery was 337. At my post-op doctor visit on 5/5, I weighed 330. I'm trying not to get caught up in weighing myself constantly, but it's hard to stay focused on the long-term goal when you have so much to lose. That is why I would appreciate a buddy/mentor who has lost 150 pounds or more with the help of lap band. I really want this method to work, but I know I need to work with it as well. I don't really want to go the gastric bypass or sleeve route because it's so drastic and irreversible. I'd just like to talk to someone who has had success losing a lot of weight with lap band.

Thanks!

First of all, Congrats on losing 35 lbs. Those 35 lbs are gone and never coming back. Great job! I havent lost 150 lbs, ive lost 61 lbs and need to lose 40 more. We both have the same goal though, and that is to lose weight! You have taken the first step and that is getting the band. You will do great. Keep a positive mind, and make sure to take before pictures! I weigh myself constantly... and times where the scale is not moving i will take recent pix and compare them to my post op pictures... and i have a non-scale victory! Its amazing how your body will transform. I was banded about a year ago, so if you have any questions feel free to ask/private message me.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
