I Can Feel My Band Through My Abdomen

Recommended Posts

I was banded June 2010 and got pregnant nearly immediately after. In my 2nd trimester of pregnancy I noticed that I could feel a lump when I pressed down where the band was. The doctor said it was likely due to the fact that my organs were being moved to make room for the baby. Well, I am 6 weeks postpartum and I can very easily feel my band when I press on it. What is going on?

Is it the band you can feel or the port? Being able to feel the port is quite common. I would have thought feeling the band which sits much higher than most people realise would be really hard.

I have a banded coworker who told me she could feel her band. I didnt believe her so she grabbed my hand and showed me. Clearly it was her band. She said she started to feel it as her weight dropped.

Strange, I can feel the port, and sometimes it is very noticeable, especially in the swimming pool. But, I can't feel the band!

My port is marked by a small lump which has always been palpable, but more so as I dropped weight. I have never been able to palpate my own Band though. Having a palpable port is an advantage for ease of access in servicing the fill level. I don't know anyone who has demonstrated the actual band being palpable externally.

Hi,

I've been thinking about having kids and need to ask. Can you really see the port when your pregnant? Does it cause people to ask questions? I'm a very private person and really nervous about this. Thanks!

I was banded on May 20, 2011 and I can feel my band right at the bottom of my bra line. I haven't been able to palpate my port though.

I saw my band and port on flouroscope .... and I don't see how anyone could feel the band..although ports are placed to be easy to find and access. My band was high up and it looked like my ribs were in over/around it...I was shocked that my stomach is actually so high...not at my bellybutton! lol Anyway....I know there is no way I could ever feel my band...but my port is totally easy to see and feel! (which makes for easy fills at least!!!)

Ok, I'm thinking maybe for some of us it's just hard scar tissue that we're feeling. At least that's what I think it is for me.

If the band is placed correctly, at the top of the stomach, you will not be able to feel it because it will be behind your ribs.

I agree, and also the top of your stomach where the band is placed is behind your liver. Your liver actually had to be moved out of the way in order to place the band. Not sure you could possibly be feeling your band through your liver.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
