So true Hummingbird...the band works differently for everyone and each person has to find the best way for *them*.

Each person has different experiences regarding what they can and can't eat post banding. My doctor says you should be able to eat 3 oz of solid Protein at lunch and dinner (mornings you might be too tight); if you can't you are too tight. In my opinion if you can't eat solid protein without using Water to get it down you are too tight. I can eat any food at restriction.

'Many' are not? So your doctor thinks there's only one way to do it right? If so, I feel sorry for their patients who can't work the band the way they think it should be done.

I think you'll find over time that a good majority of these bariatric surgeons know less about how this band actually works...and have less helpful advice than those who were banded. They also generally know squat about good nutrition.

In any case, good luck to you.

Read his post. He did not say many are are not. He said some.

Here are his words- many of you are on target some are not according to them.

Have a good day!

I am so glad you called them and didn't wait the 3 frustrating weeks for your next appointment. I hope they can help you get your groove. :)

Who knows if I am one who they think is on target. The most important thing is I am a success. I lost all my weight in a short time and have maintained a BMI of 24. (started at 41.3)

This thing will not work exactly the same for you as it does for me. In fact, since you are male your weight will come off faster than mine did. I just saw my surgeon yesterday and we are both very happy with the way I do it and my success. :)

they said some are not , not many, please re read my post

It doesn't matter who your doc thinks is on target on a public forum. What matters is he is there for you and willing to get you in sooner to help you. YOU are number one in YOUR journey.:)

LOL- I bet! They probably don't take too kindly to random people on a message board saying they know more/better/different than professionals.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
