Help! I'm suddenly too tight...

Recommended Posts

On Tuesday I got a tiny fill of .2 cc's. I stayed on liquids and then mushies and then on Friday I tried real food. I had no problems. Yesterday I ate real food and even ate out at supper with no problems.

This morning I drank my coffee and took my meds- 9 pills total- no problem. Then at noon I tried to eat some Greek Yogurt. I ate it slowly. It took almost 40 minutes to finish it and it got stuck. I threw it up. Now when I drink I can feel my liquids trickling down and If I take a big drink rather than a sip it feels like it's going to come back up. I burp a lot and then it will finally go down.

What's the deal? I swallowed my pills this morning with no issues so what's going on now?

Is it possible I irritated my band by swallowing the pills? They were all small except for 2 and those 2 were gelcaps.

If you got stuck, it couldbe you stomach swelled some. Stick to liquids for the rest of the day, and you can try taking some children's motrin for the sweeling. Peronally, I uually get stuck on yogurt. One of those things that stumps me, but whether I'm loose or tight, it just doesn't go down.

I'm hungry so I just tried a few spoonfuls of chicken and stars Soup. I stayed away from the chicken and just ate the mushy stuff-pasta and carrots.

After 5 bites I got that stuck pain in my chest and it all came back up:(

I'm going to try some liquid Motrin and make some warm tea and see how that goes.

I guess maybe one of my pills was stuck and I just didn't realize it. I started drinking warm tea and by the third cup I was feeling much better and everything I drink goes down just fine now. I've never had that happen before, ever.

That's good. It's a really crappy feeling when liquids don't want to stay down. I try to sip at times like that, they stay down better. I'm glad you're feeling better!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
