So, I officially can start pureed/mushies tomorrow. It will be nice to have something new, I'm actually craving some cottage cheese...but I am a bit nervous about things getting stuck. I think I've probably asked these questions in another post but seeing as I start tomorrow I wanted to get all the advice I can!

1) what does it feel like if something gets stuck...where do I feel it? esophagus area or more in the stomach?

2) what happens if something does get stuck? do you slime or puke?

3) small curd cottage cheese is okay in it's normal state right? I don't have to puree it further?

4) how did everyone handle scrambled eggs at this point?

5) any other food ideas? I think on hand I have instant mashies, canned chicken, chili to puree, pudding, apple sauce...and another post-er suggested pineapple juice for when things get stuck, so I have that.

Nervous!!

I am on mushies right now and i love to eat cottage cheese. of coarse i eat the fat free. I dont have problems with anything much except for baked apples that are mushed up. they wont digest and come back up. Ive been eating a lot of chicken salad made with dark meat *has more Protein and white meat is kind of dry * also tuna salad. and cheese! i eat babybell cheese and soft cheeses like swiss cheese. laughing cow makes awsome soft cheese! I got a recipie from some post a while back that say to eat ricotta cheese layered with marinara sauce and topped w mozzarella. its mock lasagna. ITS AWSOME! i eat it alot too! oh and avacados. i been eating those. granted i havnt lost but 2 lbs in last week since been on mushies but i have lost a lot more inches in last week. I know my weight number will go down eventually but im ok with losing dress sizes too!!! good luck and look back and the pre operation tab and there is a post on there about mushies and recipies!

i've been eating cottage cheese since my full liquids phase and haven't had a problem with it getting stuck. just chew, chew, chew rolleyes.gif

do a search on here for a ricotta bake -- it's in practically every puree/mushie post. it's basically ricotta (but i used cottage cheese --- my new go-to Protein source), some marinara, shredded mozzarella. it's like the inside of a lasagna -- the best part :)

i also mixed some green Beans, cream of mushroom and milk and baked/pureed --- green bean casserole.

you could also puree ground turkey and do sloppy joes (minus the Buns, of course).

honestly, anything that isn't broth or pudding tastes amazing!

good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
