how you feel after being banded

Recommended Posts

I was banded 2 days ago on March 10th. I came home frome the hospital yesterday afternoon. All in all I think I am doing ok. I am finally starting to rid some of the surgical gas, but I am very sore which I know is normal. I have this uncomfortable feeling in my "throat" area. I really think it is the upper part of my stomach where I was banded. It is probably from my stomach being swollen, but wanted to get some feedback from people that have been banded already. Sometimes I feel like if I could have a good burp, I would feel better. Is this feeling going to go away or will I always have this "pressure" feeling?

It will go away bibwas very burpy the first week or so but am 4 weeks out now and much better. My throat was very sore and uncomfortable. I think it was partly swelling and gas and partly throat irritation from the intubation and anesthesia. It will get better hang in there!

It will definitely get better. I had some gas pains after the surgery and Gas X strips and peppermint tea helped. If you're feeling tightness in your upper chest/shoulder area, try a heating pad that worked great for me.

I had alot of gas and it did indeed feel like if I could just burp it would be all better. Since then (6 days) I am dying of hunger. I am following the full liquid diet to the fullest of my ability, but I am painfully hungry all the time.

During surgery they stick a tube down your throat and put gas in your stomach. It might be from the tube or the gas that is giving you problems.

For a few weeks after my surgery I was having a feeling like I could burp or a choking feeling that was freaking me out. My doc checked me out again and again and said it was just from the tube and there was still gas in my lungs so I had to be patient. It finally went away but what a pain.

You're not alone! Don't worry :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
