March 2011 Banding, Is anyone out there?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have cruised this site for a little while. I haven't really had much interaction with people who are local to Vancouver lower mainland. I am less than 2 weeks away from my surgery date. I am travelling to Puerto Vallarta Mexico - alone! I am feeling a little vulnerable now. I am plugging along with my pre-op diet and attending my "bootcamp" workouts 3x/week. I would love to interact with others and add some people to my friends list. Anyone out there?:bigear:

Hi: We have a support group that meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Lions Gate Hospital and there is a group that meets in Surrey.

If you have any questions or would simply like some support contact me. I have had my band 4 years now and am retired so on the net fairly often.

I am sorry, but I don't belong to Facebook nor twitter. I don't like their security but if you wish to contact me, e mail me privately on this site and I will give you my personal e mail address.

Hello ,

I am thinking of having the surgery in Mexico, can you inform me about your experience?

Hi: People in our support group have gone to Mexico and have had great experiences. Just check out your clinic thorougly and most importantly the aftercare. Can you fly back for fills or defills. Is there someone in your area who will do fills or defills and how much do they charge. One of the most frustrating and frightening thing is to be too tight and you are unable to find anyone who will do the defill. Also, ask how long will the aftercare last. My clinic is for life some only 3 or 4 years. Then what? The band is great, but research carefully. A local clinic may cost more but in the long run may be the better choice. It is entirely up to you.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
