Dietician called it lapband hell...

Okay, so I just got back from the doc. Of course, my loss showed less than at home this morning because it was later in the day but... I'm down the 20 since 1 wk pre op according to them.

The surgeon said he knows I will be feeling hungry now and that is to be expected. He also told me that he doesn't even care if I lose NOTHING from now until after my first fill. He said my goal is to just maintain. Sigh... I WANT TO KEEP LOSING!!!

The dietician said we are in lapband hell now. We have our appetites back with no restriction due to the swelling going down. So, this is why we are all experiencing the big weight loss stall.:o

I am getting a fill on 3/22 even though I am leaving for a cruise a few days later. He said he will give me restriction but not as much since he wouldn't want to overdo it and risk my having problems while on vacation. He said I will definitely have restriction though. I told him I better have it since I can do a LOT of damage in one week on a cruise. OY!

So, that is the scoop for today.

You know... I must be one in very few that had restriction right from the start. So did my brother, he is a year out and has never had a fill, he is down over 100 pounds. I have always had some sort of restriction, I have had 3 fills but I have never noticed that I get full faster, just that I stay full longer. Funny how different the band works for different people! Very Best of Luck to you on your Journey!!!

You know what is funny, though? My mom went on a cruise and came home thinking she probably gained weight from sampling all the yummy foods....she found that b/c of all of the walking they did (those ships are HUGE) she actually lost weight! (she has a lapband too) Sometimes by boosting your intake a bit or mixing things up a bit it does help you kickstart losing, too. So don't worry too much about the cruise.

Also your first 6 weeks post op are definately no fun - you need to focus on healing and not on weight loss...I actually gained a few lbs before my 6 weeks appt and first fill. Don't fret - you will get out of bandster hell eventually - hang in there!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
